Unit 1: Part A
My main art form is Photography. I’ve done a lot of photography and film at school in Photography lessons and Media Lessons. Most of my photography was just of the natural world and using natural light. For this project, I learnt how to use the studio and to take staged still life photography in the style of photographers like Irving Penn.
Unit 1: Part B
It was difficult to organise work placements when schools were closed. Luckily several artists agreed to offer virtual placements to Treasure House students. I worked with the watercolour artist Barbara Jones.
Unit 1: Part C
In this unit, I completed research into artists and art events. I conducted research into the Irving Penn, I visited the Olafur Eliason exhibition at the Tate Modern, I also visited Footprints Set Design in Peckham.

This section is all about an issue in the arts.
Unit 2: Part A
I was one of two students to be offered work experience at The Mechanics Institute Review, a creative writing website that runs out of Birkbeck University. I learned a lot during the placement including how to edit a website, and to work with art professionals.
As part of my work experience I was able to run a Youth Takeover month, for the youth takeover, we ran a creative writing competition for under 18s across the UK. We took submissions and judged this nationwide competition.
Unit 2: Part B
I worked with two of the managing editors of the website. I worked at school but I was also able to visit Birkbeck and spend some time at the university learning about copy editing and about how an online lit mag works. I also communicated with published authors as part of the project and with the competition winners.

In this section, you can see the materials that I made to promote and deliver the competition.
Unit 2: Part D
The winning entries of the competition were published on the Mechanics’ Institute Review website. I was able to write the pages for the website and publish them live.
