My art form: Song creating (beat creation and lyrics)
My New Skill: Photography and Promotion
I would like to Design an album cover or music video to promote a grime song (photography)
I will take a few pictures and edit them in Canva or other apps. And learn how to use video editors.
I will produce a a song and video or album/song or ep cover
I will work with Melanie for photography and any music teachers for the song.
To bring the two ideas together I will relate the cover to the song, and or a music video to suit the style of music.
To monitor my progress I will take pictures of progress and save all practice designs to drive as well as posting them in my portfolio.
To share the work I will share my music video with people and maybe a concert. Then I will do a survey of things they like and things that could be better.

Learning Project – Album Cover
Learning to use the studio lights and taking studio photos:

Using Canva to create a practice album cover

Melanie’s Comment
You did really well when using the studio. You were able to set up the lights and stands and were also able to discuss complex lighting situations and the effects that you wanted to achieve. Your edit shows skills with colour and contrast and also with more complex tools like the magic eraser. Your fonts and added elements connect this image to the Grime genre.
Working with Barney on Album Cover Ideas

Talk a little bit about what you have done with Barney on the album cover
Creating The album cover

How did you create the album cover, can you break it down step by step?
Also, how did you apply what you’d learned with me and with Barney?
Working with Emily on the song
My plans were to make a Grime song with a chorus and as high level production as I could using the software available.
I started with a drum pattern which I wanted to have a loose swung feel to it to bring a old school grimey vibe. I then looked for the most accurate synth and made a loop and also added the high pitch voice loop (which I made myself out of a given voice Midi instrument.) After that I showed my music teacher to get advice and began working on my chorus. I was given advice to add sound effects in the background of the instrumental, which gave it a thicker, more finished sound. I started writing lyrics, the goal with them being to be clean, catchy and flashy with difficult high level rhyme schemes. I struggled to get a perfect voice recording due to not having actual access to a studio, so made do with what I had and edited the voice channels to be louder and more ‘full’ sounding. I then made my final tweaks and changes to volume levels and pans from left to right in the chorus and I had a complete song.
